Got a brand new Windows box? Here's what I do when setting up a clean machine. (These are all 100% free, assuming your copy of Windows is legal; if it isn't, leave my webpage now please .) Of course, this isn't everything, but it's a start.

- Install Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer
- The newest Java Virtual Machine

- Replace Outlook with Thunderbird

- WinAce or WinZip
- An IRC Client
- For LCD screens, turn ClearType on
